Experiences Matter

Experiences matter.

Experiences bring to us knowledge and wisdom.

I was excited.
I was petrified.

Shit, I was flying to London all by lonesome and felt like a teenager walking into a party not knowing one person. Several months earlier, I felt guided to go. So I was…not having a clue of what to expect.

Experiences bring to us possibilities.

After a seven hour flight, lots of turbulence, and the craziest taxi ride I’ve ever been in, I was finally at my destination—in a small remote town outside of London, Arthur Finley – The Worlds Foremost College for the Advancement of Spiritualism and Psychic Sciences.

I knew this was going to be an interesting experience the moment I was handed my room key with “my” number on it. 122.

Experiences bring to us uncertainty and doubt.

Our first lecture started that evening. I nervously sat looking at my peers—all of them extremely gifted mediums… I freaked. Total anxiety flooded through my body. I wanted out of there. I don’t belong here! What the hell was I thinking?! I’m going to make an ass out of myself. I’m not as good as them!

The lecture ended. Running up the stairs and out of breath, I called my husband, “I need a flight out of here, now!” After an hour of my self-depreciated babble, he somehow convinced me to stay…at least for another few days.

Without a second thought, we’re not good enough. We’ve failed before we’ve even begun. We compete with our inner selves. The bar is set massively high within our mind—a bar that is likely attainable if only we removed the pressure we’ve created for ourselves.

Over the next few days, I listened. I learned. I absorbed everything like a sponge. My readings were stronger than they’d ever been. Why? Not because they taught me to connect better… but because I made a choice to stand in my power and do my best…

There’s always going to be someone else going through or doing something similar to you but everyone has his or her own personal experiences. Your experiences are what set you apart. They create uniqueness. They construct your flare, your style, your story… your authenticity.

I left London gaining a reflective insight on the beauty of the soul, independence, discipline, spiritualism, deep gratitude, and a newfound sense of self-respect.
