Contemplation

The journey of contemplation.

The idea emerges. It could be a new job, a weight loss program, a new relationship, leaving an existing relationship, writing that book you’ve been dreaming of, or starting a non-profit. Whatever it is for you, the mental preparation has begun. The excitement starts to settle, mixed with slightly ambivalent feelings. Your vision begins to unfold. Next step… action time!

But all of a sudden, you freeze. Feeling overwhelmed, you quickly jump back—deciding to bag it.

Contemplation can be wonderful for thoughts and ideas. It’s when it turns into doubt and fear that it becomes destructive. We can often overthink ourselves into not moving forward. All of the “what if’s” and ‘I’m not/ I can’t xyz” rummage through our minds, overshadowing the original plan that we knew we were so sure we could accomplish just moments earlier. What was once excitement is now tainted with fear.

We set the bar extremely high while inadvertently convincing ourselves it’s unattainable. We find comfort in knowing how it will all play out. We feel safe when we have a concrete plan. Our standard is that it’s sensible to stay in a space of contentment. But…

What if you released the outcome that you’ve created? What if you took a leap of faith… with yourself? What if you continued to believe in that thing that you wanted to do? What if you contemplated about all of the things that could go right?

If you want things to change, you must make changes. Be brave enough to keep going. You have all you need within you…  Do something you didn’t think you could do. Say, “I’ve got this!”… Instead of “I can’t.”

Your mind is your greatest tool. Allow it expand and flourish. Stop giving a shit about what people think. Your thoughts and ideas are great. Do what feels right for you. No excuses. No explanations. .

You ARE worth it.
